Q:  What are some basic guidelines for wearing jewelry?

A:  For recommended maintenance and care, it is best to avoid direct contact with perfume, nail polish removers, hairspray, lotions, chlorine, salt water, or any other abrasive cleaners or chemicals, as this will dull the appearance.  Avoid wearing while cleaning, during sports activities, or manual labor.  And always protect your jewelry from scratching, sunlight, and extreme heat/cold.

Q:  How do I take proper care of my jewelry?

A:  To clean your jewelry or remove stains, you may wipe with a soft damp, untreated cloth or wash the piece with mild dish soap and soak in warm (never hot) water.  Lightly pat the jewelry dry with a lint-free 100% cotton cloth.

Q:  What is recommended for polishing Sterling Silver?

A:  Silver is soft and can become scratched easily.  You can use a special silver cloth to polish your items, but a lint-free flannel, microfiber, or other soft nonabrasive cloth will do as well.  Do not use paper towels or tissues to polish your jewelry as they contain fibers that can scratch the silver.  When polishing, use long back-and-forth motions that mirror the grain of the silver.  Do not rub in circles, as this will magnify any tiny scratches.

Q:  How do I store the jewelry?

A:  Jewelry should be stored away from natural sunlight and heat, in an airtight protective (soft lined) jeweler box or a tarnish-resistant pouch.  Store carefully to avoid tangling and scratching.

Q:  What is Gold Vermeil?

A:  Gold vermeil is defined as a piece that is cast in sterling silver and coated on the surface with gold of at least 10K fineness.  Our gold vermeil jewelry is made of sterling silver coated with 14K.

Q:  How do I care for my silver oxidized and gold jewelry?

A:  The oxidized silver, 14K gold vermeil, and 14K gold plated pieces have undergone a special surface treatment and they must be handled differently than regular silver or solid gold.  Be sure not to rub abrasively.  Over time with frequent wear, the surface treatment may take on an even deeper patina, giving your piece its own unique look.
